The Libyan Parliament-appointed Prime Minister, Osama Hammad, conducted an inspection visit to Sirte University, accompanied by the Director General of the Development Fund, Belgassem Haftar. The visit highlighted major development projects aimed at modernising the university’s infrastructure ahead of its official reopening.

During the tour, Hammad and Haftar examined a wide range of facilities, including the complex of lecture halls, scientific laboratories, sports grounds, and the main conference hall. Engineers, supervisors, and university officials were also present, reflecting the collaborative efforts behind the construction and renovation process.

According to project plans, Sirte University is set to benefit from the creation of three new lecture theatres and the renovation of four existing ones. Additional work includes the refurbishment of the university’s administrative headquarters, designed to enhance efficiency and provide a modern working environment for staff and students.

The inspection was attended by the president of Sirte University, senior faculty members, local authorities, and residents of the city. Their presence underscored the importance of the project for the local community, which views the university as a cornerstone for education and development in central Libya.

Officials emphasised that the initiative is part of wider national efforts to upgrade Libya’s educational infrastructure. The goal is to create a more advanced academic environment that keeps pace with international standards and offers students improved opportunities for learning and research.

The Sirte University projects are expected to significantly strengthen the institution’s role in fostering academic excellence and supporting Libya’s youth. The renovations and new facilities mark a step towards rebuilding the higher education sector, which has faced challenges due to years of conflict and instability.
