On Saturday, the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) decided to appoint Salah Al-Din Al-Namroush as Minister of Defence. Until now, Al-Namroush had been serving as the Undersecretary of Defence.
This appointment came during the Council’s meeting headed by Fayez Al-Sarraj, in the presence of deputies Ahmed Maiteeq and Abdel Salam Kajman, in addition to the members of the Presidential Council Mohamed Amari Zayed and Ahmed Hamzah.
The Council also decided to appoint Lieutenant General Mohamed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad as Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army.
On Friday, the Presidential Council decided to suspend the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, from his duties and ordered an investigation on him to be conducted within the next 3 days.
It is noteworthy that the Head of the Presidential Council of the GNA in Libya, Fayez Al-Sarraj, announced his intention to conduct an urgent ministerial reshuffle in response to the demands of protesters.
