Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), carried out a field visit to the border city of Emsaed as part of a wider series of tours across eastern Libya aimed at assessing living conditions, listening to citizens, and strengthening communication between the LNA leadership and local communities.

The tour is part of the General Command’s broader effort to maintain a direct presence on the ground and ensure that security and development priorities reflect the needs of residents.

Upon arriving in Emsaed, Saddam Haftar was welcomed by families, community leaders, and tribal elders who reaffirmed their full support for the LNA and its role in protecting Libya’s borders and ensuring stability. Emsaed, located at a major crossing point with Egypt, remains one of the country’s most sensitive frontier areas, making local security and community needs a strategic priority.

During the visit, Haftar met with local residents to hear their concerns regarding essential services, infrastructure, and economic challenges. Citizens highlighted the need for improved road networks, enhanced border services, and greater support for local commerce.

Haftar stressed that the LNA is committed to ensuring that reconstruction and development projects reach all cities and towns across Libya, noting that ongoing initiatives are designed to improve daily life and support long-term stability.

He emphasized that development and security are closely linked, explaining that strong institutions, service provision, and functioning infrastructure contribute directly to maintaining stability. Haftar reiterated that cooperation between the armed forces and local communities remains a key pillar of the LNA’s strategy.

Residents expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as evidence of continued engagement from the leadership and a sign that their needs are being heard. They called for sustained efforts to address long-standing issues that affect life in Emsaed and other border communities.
