Libya and Germany held diplomatic talks on Sunday aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across various political, economic, and humanitarian fields.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tripoli, where Al-Taher Al-Baour, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Government of National Unity, received Germany’s Ambassador to Libya, Ralph Tarraf.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on the overall trajectory of Libyan-German relations and explored practical measures to deepen cooperation.
Both sides reviewed ongoing programs and identified new opportunities for collaboration in political dialogue, economic development, humanitarian assistance, and institutional support.
The two officials also exchanged views on regional and international developments, emphasizing the need for coordinated positions on issues that affect North Africa, the Mediterranean region, and Europe.
Al-Baour underscored the importance of sustained communication between Tripoli and Berlin, stressing that enhanced cooperation plays a vital role in supporting stability in Libya and creating space for economic recovery and development. He reaffirmed Libya’s commitment to maintaining constructive partnerships with countries that contribute to reinforcing peace and supporting national institutions.
Ambassador Tarraf reiterated Germany’s interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding areas of mutual benefit. He emphasized that Germany remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at stabilizing Libya, advancing reconciliation, and encouraging sustainable development.
Tarraf also highlighted the importance of continued coordination between the two countries in addressing shared challenges, including regional security concerns, migration management, and economic pressures.
