German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, said that he supports the ceasefire in Libya, and efforts to return to the Berlin Conference outputs. He announced a French-German-Italian agreement to impose sanctions against violators of the UN arms embargo on Libya.

Berlin expressed grave concerns about the continuing tension between Ankara and Athens, over Turkish gas exploration operations in the region. NATO also expressed concerns about the possibility of a confrontation between the two members.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed her unease about the conflict between Greece and Turkey. Before her meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Merkel said “there are disturbances that concern us very much, because they takes place between two NATO members.”
