Libya’s Attorney General, Al-Siddiq Al-Sour, met on Tuesday in Tripoli with Jeremy Berndt, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Libya, to discuss expanding cooperation on counter-narcotics efforts across the country.

According to a post shared by the US Embassy on X, Berndt highlighted the ongoing work of the Attorney General’s Office in strengthening drug-control practices and supporting nationwide efforts to confront trafficking networks. The meeting underscored growing coordination between Libyan judicial authorities and US partners, particularly as Libya continues to face rising challenges linked to drug smuggling routes across North Africa and the Mediterranean.

The discussions come amid wider international support for Libya’s law enforcement and justice institutions, which have intensified campaigns in recent months targeting organized crime groups and illicit drug shipments. Both sides stressed the importance of continued collaboration as Libya works to enhance border security, disrupt trafficking operations, and promote stability within its judicial system.
