Waha Oil Company announced on Saturday the successful completion of drilling operations at a new oil well, Q125, and its entry into the production phase with an initial output of 1,765 barrels of crude oil per day.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the company said the start-up of the new well forms part of its ongoing development and expansion plans aimed at increasing production capacity across its operated fields and improving reservoir utilization efficiency. The company noted that these efforts rely on advanced engineering technologies while maintaining full compliance with approved health and safety standards in the oil and gas sector.
Waha Oil reaffirmed its commitment to continuing drilling and development programs under a clear strategic vision focused on maximizing the value of Libya’s national resources and generating positive returns that support the national economy. The company said these efforts reinforce its position as one of the leading operators in Libya’s oil sector.
As part of its broader 2025 operations, the company revealed that it drilled 81 wells during the year, including oil and gas wells, water injection and disposal wells, as well as two exploration wells. These activities were carried out under complex operational conditions that required round-the-clock work and continuous coordination between technical and engineering teams, alongside supporting departments at both field and office levels.
According to the company, the cumulative production increase resulting from development drilling exceeded 40,000 barrels of crude oil, contributing to a rise in Waha Oil’s average daily output to approximately 354,000 barrels per day in 2025.
The latest production gains come as Libya continues efforts to stabilize and expand oil output despite ongoing logistical and security challenges, with the energy sector remaining a critical pillar of the national economy and a key source of state revenue.
