Libya’s Anti-Illegal Migration Agency has deported 100 undocumented migrants of Eritrean nationality as part of ongoing efforts to regulate irregular migration and enforce national laws, according to an official statement.

The agency said the migrants were transferred to its branch in Sirte as a preparatory step to complete deportation procedures to Tripoli, in line with approved legal regulations governing migration and deportation processes.

The operation was carried out in implementation of directives issued by the head of the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency and under the direct supervision of the director of the agency’s Greater Benghazi branch. Officials said the procedures were conducted in accordance with established legal and administrative frameworks.

Libyan authorities continue to face mounting challenges linked to irregular migration, with the country serving as a major transit route for migrants from the Horn of Africa and sub-Saharan regions seeking to reach Europe. In response, the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency has intensified coordination between its regional branches to manage detention, transfer, and deportation operations.

The agency stressed that these measures form part of broader efforts to organize the migration file, enforce the rule of law, and maintain public security, amid ongoing regional instability and rising migration pressures across North Africa and the Mediterranean.
