During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Libya and Italy, and explored ways to strengthen and expand cooperation across a range of areas of mutual interest, in line with the shared interests of both countries.

Al-Hwaij praised the Italian diplomat’s efforts throughout his tenure in Benghazi, highlighting his constructive role in supporting dialogue channels and facilitating cooperation between Libyan and Italian institutions. He said the consul general had contributed positively to enhancing diplomatic engagement and maintaining communication during a sensitive period for Libya.

In recognition of his services, the foreign minister presented De Luigi with the Libyan government’s shield and a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, acknowledging his role in strengthening bilateral ties.

For his part, the Italian consul general expressed his appreciation to the Libyan Foreign Ministry for the cooperation and facilitation provided during his assignment, noting that such support had contributed to the success of his work.
