Tunisia Supports Libya to Reach Crisis Settlement

Tunisia’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Othman Jerandi held a telephone conversation with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Stephen E. Biegun, in which he renewed his country’s “firm stance towards the Libyan file, which is based on a peaceful Libyan-Libyan solution to the crisis.”

In this regard, he noted Tunisia’s efforts to help Libyans reach a political settlement to the crisis as soon as possible. These efforts are meant to reduce tensions and limit their spread in the region, given their possible negative impact on neighbouring countries in particular, and on the Mediterranean space in general.

The phone conversation also focused on ways to strengthen Tunisian-American relations in all areas, both on the bilateral and multilateral level, as well as on regional and international issues of common interest, the Foreign Ministry said.
