Libya has deported a group of Syrian nationals as part of its ongoing national program to repatriate irregular migrants, the Ministry of Interior under the Government of National Unity announced.

The ministry confirmed that the deportation was carried out through Mitiga International Airport after completing all required legal procedures. Authorities stressed their full commitment to adhering to both legal frameworks and humanitarian standards while handling migration cases.

The move forms part of broader efforts by Libya’s Interior Ministry to regulate migration flows and safeguard national security. Officials noted that the initiative falls within a comprehensive national strategy aimed at addressing the status of irregular migrants and ensuring their safe and orderly return to their home countries.

Libya continues to face significant migration pressures, as it remains a key transit route for migrants attempting to reach Europe through irregular channels. This has prompted authorities to intensify coordination with foreign governments and international partners to facilitate structured and lawful deportation processes.

The national repatriation program primarily targets individuals who have overstayed their residency permits or entered the country illegally. Authorities reiterated that all deportation procedures are conducted with respect for migrants’ fundamental rights and dignity.
