The US Department of State has announced a new round of funding under its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program, aimed at supporting initiatives that strengthen cooperation between the United States and Libya.
The program is administered by the US Mission to Libya through its external office in Tunis and is designed to fund projects that promote shared interests, enhance regional stability, and support economic development.
According to the official announcement, applicants must submit proposals that align with at least one of the program’s key objectives. These include promoting economic opportunity and collaboration with the United States, highlighting shared values and partnerships between the two countries, and supporting Libya’s unity, stability, and security.
The initiative encourages participation from a wide range of applicants, including local and state government bodies, public and private universities, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. The program also places strong emphasis on involving alumni of US government exchange programs, reflecting a broader effort to build lasting professional and cultural connections.
Funding for selected projects will range between 50,000 and 100,000 US dollars, depending on the scope and impact of the proposals. However, the availability of funds remains subject to budget allocations.
Officials said the grants are intended to support innovative and locally driven initiatives that can contribute to sustainable development, institutional capacity building, and stronger engagement between Libyan communities and international partners.
