Egyptian FM Says Turkey Destabilises Region

Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, stated that Ankara is pursuing expansionary policies that are not only undermining the security and stability of Libya, but also that of the region.

He commented on statements made by the Turkish Presidential advisor, Yasin Aktay, who revealed a ‘Turkish-Egyptian’ affinity. Shoukry pointed out that Cairo is monitoring Ankara actions and stressed that Turkish policies in Libya, Syria, Iraq, and the eastern Mediterranean, are all aimed at destabilising the region.

Notably, the Turkish Ministry of Defence announced that its forces conducted a search and rescue exercise off the coast of Libya on Friday. Turkey supports the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA), against the eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA).
