Libya’s National Oil Corporation has held technical discussions with an Omani energy services company as Libya intensifies efforts to expand oil and gas production and modernise its energy infrastructure.

The talks took place during an extended meeting between the National Oil Corporation and a delegation from Abraj Energy Services, attended by directors of drilling and well maintenance departments from NOC subsidiaries.

According to Libyan officials, discussions focused on potential cooperation opportunities and the latest drilling technologies and oilfield services that could support Libya’s long-term production targets.

Libya is aiming to raise crude oil production to two million barrels per day within the next three years through expanded drilling operations, including conventional and unconventional extraction activities.

The meeting also reflected the National Oil Corporation’s broader strategy to modernise the technical infrastructure of Libya’s oil services sector and introduce advanced technologies aimed at improving operational efficiency and increasing production rates.

Representatives from Abraj Energy Services presented the company’s technical capabilities and regional experience in onshore drilling, well cementing, hydraulic fracturing and coiled tubing services.

The two sides held detailed technical discussions on the possibility of benefiting from the Omani company’s expertise to develop drilling services and support operations across Libyan oilfields and production sites.

The National Oil Corporation said the meetings form part of its efforts to monitor the latest global technological developments in oilfield services and enhance the technical performance of Libya’s energy sector.

Libya has recently accelerated efforts to attract international and regional energy service companies as authorities seek to expand exploration, drilling activities and oilfield infrastructure upgrades.

Abraj Energy Services is considered one of Oman’s largest oil and gas service providers. Founded in 2006, the company currently operates 33 onshore drilling rigs and has expanded its regional presence amid rising energy investments across the Middle East and North Africa.

The company recently secured additional contracts with Petroleum Development Oman, including agreements to operate six drilling rigs and extend contracts for three others until 2026 and 2027.
