Flydubai has announced the launch of direct flights to Benghazi, becoming the first Emirati carrier to operate non-stop services between Dubai and Benina International Airport.
According to the airline, flights will begin on 17 June with three weekly services operating from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport.
The new route is expected to strengthen air connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Libya while providing passengers travelling from Benghazi with easier access to Flydubai’s expanding international network through Dubai.
Ghaith Al Ghaith said the launch of flights to Libya marks an important step in the airline’s network expansion strategy and reflects its commitment to opening underserved markets and enhancing regional connectivity.
He added that Flydubai continues expanding operations in response to growing travel demand and expects its network to exceed 100 destinations during the summer season.
With Benghazi added to its schedule, Flydubai’s network across East and North Africa will expand to 13 destinations. The airline said the move aims to support trade, tourism and cultural exchange through direct air links with Dubai.
Sudhir Sreedharan described Libya as an important market with strong commercial potential and said the airline is preparing for increased passenger demand ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday and the summer travel season.
The flights will operate under a codeshare partnership with Emirates, allowing passengers to travel with a single ticket and integrated baggage services across a wider global network.
Flydubai has recently expanded operations across Africa and the Middle East while also resuming seasonal destinations including Bodrum, Dubrovnik, Mykonos and Santorini.
Round-trip business class fares from Dubai to Benghazi will start from AED 10,500, while economy fares will begin at AED 4,500.
