Salah Al-Nimroush, the Government of National Accord’s (GNA) Defence Minister, received Elmer Cato, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Philippine Embassy to Libya, and his accompanying delegation.

According to a statement published by the GNA’s MoD, Cato confirmed his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation between Libya and the Philippines. This would be in the fields of joint maritime exercises, and information exchange.
He also expressed his desire for cooperation with the GNA in cyber defence, as well as benefiting from the experience of GNA forces.

Al-Nimroush stated he appreciated the role of the embassy, which did not call back its staff, during what he described as the “aggression”, in reference to the advance of the Libyan National Army (LNA) on Tripoli.
