The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Steve Block, welcomed the arrest of human trafficker Abdel-Rahman Milad, commonly known as ‘Al-Bidja’.

He stressed that his arrest was an “important step to end impunity and strengthen accountability in Libya.”

Block confirmed that Al-Bidja was one of six traffickers, included by the UN Security Council sanctions list in 2018, as part of an initiative adopted by Amsterdam.

The Government of National Accord (GNA) forces detained Al-Bidja on Wednesday. The arrest warrant issued against him was based on investigations conducted by the Attorney General’s office, and at the request of the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee. He was involved with other criminals in committing human trafficking, migrant, and fuel smuggling crimes.
