Libyan Army: Turkey does not want a Political Solution in Libya

The Head of the Moral Guidance Department in the Libyan National Army (LNA), Brigadier Khaled Al-Mahjoub, said that Turkey does not want a political solution in Libya. Al-Mahjoub added that the continuation of the air bridge between Turkish airports and airports in western Libya, especially Al-Watiya Air Base, is meant to transport weapons, mercenaries, Turkish officers, and to strengthen Turkish presence in the country.

In press statements, Al-Mahjoub said that the Turkish cargo planes were loaded with weapons, ammunition, military equipment, and Turkish officers who came to Libya on a rotation basis.

He pointed out that this indicates that Turkey is going against what is happening in the political scene and against ongoing dialogues which seek to reach a comprehensive political solution for Libya.

He explained that Turkey does not have a clear and stable strategy these days in Libya. Turkey supports the local Muslim Brotherhood organisation which leads the scene in Libya. Its policy is based on manoeuvre, manipulation, and playing on the interests of others to achieve its own interests, not that of the state or the Libyan people.

The LNA’s Head of Moral Guidance Department pointed out that for whoever is watching the scene closely, the picture will become clear to him. In fact, Turkey’s statements in support of dialogue and a political solution are just words and cannot pass to the stage of actions.
