On Saturday, the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), led by Fayez Al-Sarraj, imposed a nationwide curfew in the country, starting from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This is in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The GNA’s decision also includes closing markets, shops, mosques, schools, coffee shops, restaurants, parks, and banning funerals, weddings and public transportation.

Only grocery stores, bakeries, and pharmacies will be allowed to open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Despite no coronavirus cases detected in Libya, Al-Sarraj said that his government has allocated half a billion Libyan dinars (360 million U.S. dollars) to take precautionary measures against the growing international health crisis.
