On Tuesday, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced it has started the six round of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) from 10 to 13 November in its new permanent headquarters in Sirte, a city at the centre of Libya’s coastline.

The UNSMIL said in a statement that the meeting aims to accelerate the implementation of the ceasefire agreement signed on October 23 in Geneva, and to complete the talks that began last week in Ghadames.

“Participants are expected to complete discussions over the ceasefire’s implementation as well as the formation of specialized sub-committees,” the statement noted.

The first round of consultations for the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum ended on Monday, in a resort located in a Tunis suburb called Gammarth.

The Tunisian President Kais Saied and the Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Stephanie Williams, have attended the opening session of Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunisia.

According to a leaked draft, the participants will discuss forming a new Presidential Council and a unified government whose most important files will be ending the armed conflict and achieving security.

The leaked draft pointed to working on unifying state institutions, preparing for presidential and parliamentary elections, implementing a decentralized system, combating corruption and restructuring the economy, while proposing a national reconciliation project and addressing the damages resulting from the war.
