The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Fatou Bensouda, called on all Libyan parties to implement the ceasefire agreement, signed in Geneva on 23 October. She condemned the forces that impede justice and accountability in the North-African country.

In a briefing to the UN Security Council, she confirmed that Libya remains a high priority case for her office. She noted that two investigation missions have been sent to collect additional evidence about the situation on the ground. Bensouda stressed the need for the Security Council, and international players to pressure all parties to respect international humanitarian law.

The ICC official condemned the targeting of civilians, who expressed their opposition to militias across Libya. In addition to the presence of serious violations occurring in Libyan prisons, and migrant detention centres.

She stated that her office was monitoring the situation of internally displaced persons, as well as that of migrants who are routinely subjected to trafficking, torture, and ill-treatment. The prosecutor pointed to the sanctions by the EU on a Libyan national, Moussa Adiab. This is for his involvement in human trafficking, rape, and killing of migrants.
