On Tuesday, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Government of National Accord (GNA), Muhammed Al-Qiblawi, urged Libyan citizens who are stranded in Tunisia to stay in the housing provided to them, avoid going outdoors and abide by the instructions set by the Ministry of Health.

Al-Qiblawi said that the Libyan General Consulate in Sfax had already housed 1,187 citizens in the three cities of Ben Gardane, Djerba, and Sfax. He noted that the GNA’s efforts to tally the remaining Libyan citizens stranded in Tunisia are still ongoing.

Last week, the Ministry spokesman confirmed that the Libyan diplomatic missions had not recorded any COVID-19 cases among members of the Libyan community residing abroad. He pointed out that the GNA is taking preventive and precautionary measures inside Libya.

Al-Qiblawi noted that the GNA Council of Ministers also renewed its commitment to provide and import essential commodities to citizens.
