Egypt’s President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi met with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Paris. During the meeting, the two reviewed a number of regional issues, with a special focus on the latest developments in the eastern Mediterranean, Libya, and Syria.

President El-Sisi confirmed that Cairo is keen to boost its strategic partnership with Paris as a cornerstone for ensuring security and stability across the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

During his visit, the Egyptian head of state also met with French Defence Minister Florence Parly, and discussed the escalating challenges in the region. They agreed to intensify coordination and consultations in order to confront these regional issues, primarily the combat against terrorism and armed extremist organisations.

The meeting also focused on the latest developments in Libya and foreign interference in the conflict. At the end of the meeting, Cairo and Paris reiterated their support for a political solution in the North African country.
