On Wednesday, US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland expressed his country’s concern regarding the use of foreign mercenaries in Libya. The Ambassador claimed Libya’s sovereignty and independence were threatened by their presence.

Norland noted that the US administration is working with all parties in Libya to support a negotiated settlement to resolve the conflict. He pointed out that the suspension of military operations in Libya is a major goal of US diplomacy.

He added that the U.S wanted to help facilitate political dialogue that would lead to Libya’s prosperity.

The Ambassador also stressed that the Libyan people do not want to see their country occupied by any external entity, calling out both Russia and Turkey. He noted that Washington is in contact with all external parties to resolve the conflict.
