Putin-Macron Discuss Developments in Libya

On Tuesday, the Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, the Kremlin said in a statement.

The Kremlin added that the two heads of state discussed regional and international issues of common interest, primarily the situations in Libya, Syria, and the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

They stressed the need to adhere to the ceasefire in Libya and to resume the political process with the participation of all parties.

Last week, President Putin said that the global and regional security situation remains difficult, due to the conflicts raging across the MENA region. “Dangerous destabilization is observed in the Middle East and North Africa, and armed confrontations continue in Libya and Yemen. Much remains to be done to reach a political settlement in Syria,” he said.
