The Anti-Illegal Migration Agency in Derna has continued implementing a comprehensive humanitarian and healthcare initiative for migrants housed in accommodation centers, reflecting efforts to combine migration management with essential humanitarian support.

The program is being carried out under the directives of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, who has emphasized the importance of ensuring dignified treatment and adequate care for all migrants residing in shelter facilities.

The initiative is coordinated by the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency in cooperation with health authorities and local medical institutions in Derna.

As part of the campaign, medical teams conducted extensive health assessments and screenings for migrants from various nationalities.

The effort included routine medical examinations, preventive healthcare services, treatment for existing conditions, and the distribution of medicines and medical supplies. Officials said the goal is to ensure that migrants have access to essential healthcare while their legal status and administrative procedures are being processed.

In addition to medical services, authorities have expanded food assistance and other humanitarian support programs within accommodation centers.

These measures are intended to improve living conditions, safeguard public health, and provide basic necessities to migrants during their stay.

Officials stressed that addressing irregular migration involves more than security and border control measures.

They noted that protecting human dignity and ensuring access to healthcare and basic services remain key components of a balanced and responsible migration policy.

Providing humanitarian assistance, they said, helps reduce health risks and contributes to a safer environment for both migrants and local communities.

The initiative also highlights cooperation between security institutions and healthcare providers, demonstrating a coordinated approach to managing migration-related challenges.
