On Saturday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) congratulated the Libyan people on the results of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), represented by the election of members of the new executive authority and the personalities chosen for the transitional phase.

In a statement the LNA said that, “the General Command of the Libyan National Army congratulates the Libyan people on the results of the LPDF sponsored by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).”

The LNA’s General Command praised the efforts made by the Acting Head of UNSMIL, Stephanie Williams, which led to the election of the new executive authority.

The statement added that the LNA’s General Command congratulates the national figures who have been elected to fulfil the functions of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al- Menfi, and the Head of the National Government, Hamid Dabiba.

It pointed out that the Libyan people hope the new executive authority will provide services and prepare the country for the general elections due to take place on December 24th this year.

The LNA explained that this would be “the beginning of the democratic process, and building the new Libya state, a state of institutions and law.”
