The University of Benghazi (UoB) announced that it had signed an agreement with the University of Florida (UF) in the United States regarding teaching in English.

The Libyan university said that the agreement was made with the support of the ‘Rosalina’ association, for teaching and learning the English language.

In its publication, UoB added that it seeks to develop the English language skills of high school students in Libya by connecting them to high school students in Florida.

The university publication stated that this program is the first of its kind in the MENA region. It will run for 8 weeks, at a rate of one hour per week, and introduce Arab culture and allow students to learn about American culture. Initially, 20 students will be enrolled, after which students will be admitted consecutively.

The university invited all students who “have the desire to communicate with American students in the English language to visit the university on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, from 10am-12pm.” It noted that the first group will begin on 10 March 2021.
