Libyan Foreign Ministry Denies Rumors of Minister’s Resignation

On Tuesday, the Libyan Foreign Ministry denied rumours circulated by some social media sites about the resignation of Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush.

The Ministry noted in a statement that these rumours aimed to disrupt the work of the Ministry, and called on all media outlets to exercise “honesty and objectivity,” before reporting such news.

Notably, Al-Mangoush is Libya’s first female foreign minister, and has come under pressure to resign, after she called for Turkish troops and mercenaries to withdraw from Libya.

A lawyer and human rights activist, Al-Mangoush was appointed foreign minister by Libya’s interim Prime Minister, Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba.
