On Wednesday, Libya and the Netherlands discussed a twinning project between the Libyan and Dutch Interpol offices.

This came during a meeting at the headquarters of the Arab and International Criminal Police Office between officials of the Libyan Interpol, and the regional security attaché of the Dutch Embassy, Marcelo Nogard.

The meeting discussed organising specialised training programs for members of the office and the Ministry of Interior. As well as the enhancement of cooperation and communication between the two sides.

According to the official page of the Ministry of Interior, the meeting was attended by the Head of the office, Brigadier Adel Al-Sharawi, the Director of the Department of Relations and Cooperation, Brigadier Salah Al-Din bin Suleiman. It was also attended by Colonel Murad Al-Majeh, the Head of Administrative Affairs at the office, and Colonel Jawhar Al-Fitouri, the liaison officer at the Interpol office in Tripoli.

Last year, the Dutch organisation ‘SPARK’ announced its intention to launch an initiative to support entrepreneurship and micro-enterprises in Libya. This was in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, the Dutch government, and the European Union.

According to the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this took place after the Director of SPARK, Yannick Du Pont met with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Omar Keti.

The meeting was held in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent on the sidelines of the Islamic Development Bank annual conference, from 2-4 September.

SPARK is one of the largest international organisations in terms of economic and development aspects, with branches in several countries. SPARK’s activities vary between supporting education, and providing or establishing job opportunities for women and refugees.
