The Libyan Parliament-designated Deputy Prime Minister, Ali Al-Qatrani has praised the bravery of of a fuel truck driver in Benghazi.

Abdullah Al-Majbari’s vehicle caught on fire, while unloading fuel at the Al-Malti petrol station, in the Al-Fuwaihat neighbourhood in Benghazi. This prompted Al-Majbari to enter his vehicle and drive it away from the station.

Witnesses added that when Al-Majbari exited the truck, it was engulfed in flames, and spread to cars parked on the side of the road.

The driver’s decision to move the truck came out of fear that the situation would worsen, as the fires would reach the ground fuel tanks. As well as the fact that the station is in a densely populated area. Al-Qatrani thanked Al-Majbari for saving citizens from harm, and for his selfless effort to put others before himself.

For his part, the Director of the Gulf Oil Company, Engineer Salah Abdel-Karim confirmed that the company will treat all those injured in the incident.

Videos were circulated online, and Libyans commended the bravery of the driver.
