Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday that the United States should play a more active role in Libya in order to reach a ceasefire and political talks.

This comes a day after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo welcomed the resumption of ceasfire talks under the auspices of the United Nations. He urged speedy negotiations to achieve a ceasefire.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Pompeo stressed that the acceptance by the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Government of National Accord (GNA) to resume talks was a very positive step towards a settlement of the Libyan crisis.
