The Foreign Minister of of the Libyan Government for National Accord (GNA), Mohamed Siala, discussed the latest developments in Libya in a telephone call with his Algerian counterpart, Sabri Bogadoum.

According to an official statement, the two Ministers exchanged views on nominations for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

Algerian President Abdel Majid Teboun recently reiterated his country’s position towards Libya, calling for dialogue between the “Libyan brothers” to reach a political solution.

This came during a meeting with the President of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Ageela Saleh, who visited Algeria last Saturday.

Teboun stressed that a political solution was the only way to guarantee the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Libyan state, removed from foreign military intervention.

Commenting on the Egyptian peace initiative dubbed the ‘Cairo Declaration’, on 7 June the Algerian Foreign Ministry reiterated the pivotal role of Libya’s neighbors in adopting comprehensive dialogue as the only way to achieve peace, while guaranteeing the unity and integrity of Libya.
