The Justice and National Reconciliation Committee of Libya’s House of Representatives inaugurated the National Reconciliation Forum on Sunday in Benghazi.

According to Abdullah Blehig, spokesperson for the House, the forum is held under the theme “Reconciliation: A Social and Historical Responsibility.” Tribal elders and community leaders from across Libya are participating in the event.

The forum follows a workshop on national reconciliation hosted by the House of Representatives at its headquarters on Saturday.

The workshop, titled “For Restorative Justice and Social Peace,” was attended by Second Deputy Speaker Misbah Doma, Chairman of the Justice and National Reconciliation Committee Mouloud Al-Aswad, and several lawmakers, including Tarek Al-Jaroushi, Khalifa Al-Daghari, Saad Al-Jazwi, Al-Hadi Al-Saghir, and Intisar Shnaib.

The Deputy Speaker of the House’s Administration, Rasmi Al-Birween, alongside various experts, professors, and academics from Libyan universities, also participated.

Organised by the Justice and National Reconciliation Committee, the workshop featured discussions on key topics. These included proposed laws on judicial and arbitration procedures, an overview of the transitional justice and reconciliation law project, and an assessment of proposed mechanisms for reparation.

The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to achieve national unity and justice in Libya through inclusive dialogue and legal frameworks.
