Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim “Kahraba,” the Al Ahly forward, was spotted at Cairo International Airport earlier today as he prepared to travel to Libya. The player has officially signed with Libyan club Al-Ittihad on a six-month loan deal during the current winter transfer window.
Kahraba bid farewell to friends and fans, including his close friend, Amr El-Dawly, at the airport before boarding his flight. The loan agreement was finalised with Al-Ittihad paying $125,000 to Al Ahly, who also granted the Libyan club an option to buy the player at the end of his loan period.
The move comes after Al Ahly’s head coach, Marcel Koller, decided to exclude Kahraba from his plans due to a decline in the player’s recent performances.
Kahraba’s Career at Al Ahly
Kahraba joined Al Ahly in December 2019 after terminating his contract with Zamalek. His transfer to Al Ahly sparked controversy, with Zamalek filing a complaint regarding the unilateral termination of his contract. This resulted in Kahraba paying a fine and serving a six-month suspension.
During his time with Al Ahly, Kahraba played 144 matches across all competitions, scoring 48 goals and providing 22 assists. He contributed to an impressive trophy haul, including three CAF Champions League titles, two Egyptian Premier League championships, an African Super Cup, four Egypt Cups, and three Egyptian Super Cups. He was also instrumental in helping Al Ahly secure back-to-back bronze medals at the FIFA Club World Cup.
This season, Kahraba has played nine matches for Al Ahly, logging 378 minutes on the pitch, during which he scored two goals and provided one assist.
Al Ahly’s Upcoming Match
Meanwhile, Al Ahly is set to face Pharco SC today at 4 PM at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria as part of the ninth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
