On Sunday, US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, discussed with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, the most recent developments in the eastern Mediterranean, and the Libyan crisis.

Pompeo said in his tweet that they spoke of the need to reduce tensions in the eastern Mediterranean region. The standoff pits Turkey’s oil and gas exploration work in the area, against Greece, the EU and other regional states.

Cavusoglu indicated that they also discussed the situation in Libya, and agreed to continue discussions at an expert level.
