A high-level delegation from Libya’s Ministry of Interior, mandated by the parliament-appointed government in eastern Libya, has arrived in Minsk, Belarus, for an official visit. The delegation, joined by the Secretary-General of the Cabinet Office, is tasked with following up on the implementation of memoranda of understanding and training programmes signed during the minister’s visit to Belarus in July.

During the visit, the Libyan delegation held talks with the Belarusian Deputy Interior Minister and senior security officials. Discussions focused on launching specialised training courses for Libyan Interior Ministry personnel. The planned programmes will cover a wide range of fields, including assault and tactical operations, riot control, criminal investigation, national safety and maritime rescue, cyber security, crime scene management, drug trafficking prevention, and economic crime. Specialised training in security media was also included.

The Belarusian side presented a comprehensive training package supported by a visual presentation, showcasing successful experiences from countries that have completed similar programmes in Belarus. The Libyan delegation is also scheduled to conduct field visits to training centres to observe the latest methods and technologies used in developing security capacities.

In addition, the delegation met with experts at the Belarusian Police Academy to discuss the training content and mechanisms for implementation. The talks emphasised ensuring that training outcomes deliver practical improvements in the skills and readiness of Libyan security personnel.

The visit highlights the Libyan Interior Ministry’s commitment to developing its human resources and enhancing operational preparedness across various security sectors. By engaging with international partners such as Belarus, Libya aims to align its security forces with modern approaches to policing and strengthen its ability to confront evolving regional and international challenges.
