Libya Secures Medals in Karate Tournament in Egypt

Libya’s national karate team has delivered an impressive performance at the North Africa Karate Championship held in Egypt, securing multiple medals across different categories.

In the men’s individual kata under-21 event, athlete Hammam Al-Qazala claimed the bronze medal, adding another moment of pride to Libyan sports. His teammate Saeed Al-Ghazawi also won a bronze medal in the same discipline, reinforcing Libya’s strong presence in the competition.

On the women’s side, Walaa Al-Sharaa showcased outstanding skill in the individual kata event, earning a bronze medal and proving her talent at the regional level. Meanwhile, Hani Lotfi gave Libya its first medal of the tournament with a silver medal in the individual kata category, standing out with exceptional technical performance against competitors from Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco.

Libya’s Samaa Al-Freetees further elevated the team’s success, winning a silver medal in the women’s under-21 individual kata. Her performance impressed judges and added another major achievement to the country’s sporting record.

In the kumite competitions, Ibrahim Al-Aqel won bronze in the men’s team kumite under 55 kg, while Abdulrahman Mohamed secured bronze in the under-40 kg kumite.

These achievements highlight the growing strength of Libyan karate on the regional stage. They also come as part of the ongoing support provided by the Ministry of Sports of the Government of National Unity, which continues to back talented athletes across different disciplines and promote Libya’s participation in international sporting events.
