Libyan authorities have deported 139 Egyptian migrants through the Amsaad land border as part of intensified national efforts to combat illegal migration and enforce immigration laws.
The operation was carried out under direct instructions from the Head of the Illegal Immigration Control Department, who ordered the swift completion of procedures for all migrants found without legal documentation.
According to the department’s media office, the Al-Butnan branch, led by Brigadier Ibrahim Larbad, deported 96 Egyptian migrants, including individuals apprehended by the Border Guard forces. The deportation took place through the Amsaad land crossing, which serves as the main route for repatriations between Libya and Egypt.
The statement noted that the work is ongoing in coordination with other regional offices, in line with the department’s broader campaign to uphold the rule of law and counter illegal migration networks operating inside Libya.
In a related effort, the Green Mountain branch of the Illegal Immigration Control Department, acting on the directives of Major General Salah Mahmoud Al-Khafifi and under the supervision of Colonel Ramzi Ramadan, deported an additional 43 Egyptian migrants through the same border point.
Authorities confirmed that some deported individuals were found to have infectious diseases. All necessary medical and preventive measures were taken in cooperation with the relevant health agencies before their transfer.
The department reiterated its commitment to implementing national laws and combating irregular migration while maintaining humanitarian standards and respecting the legal rights of all migrants.
These efforts reflect Libya’s growing determination to address migration challenges and curb the use of its territory as a transit route for illegal crossings toward Europe.
