The Libyan Interior Ministry of the Parliament-designate government held a ceremony in Benghazi to celebrate the graduation of the first batch of police aviation cadets — a milestone aimed at strengthening the aerial capabilities of the country’s security forces.

The event was attended by Interior Minister Major General Essam Abu Zariba, Head of the Internal Security Agency Lieutenant General Osama Al-Darsi, and Deputy Minister Major General Faraj Aqaim, along with several senior officials from the ministry.

The ceremony marks the culmination of an intensive training and qualification programme designed to prepare police aviation cadets for operational duties. The trainees received both theoretical and practical instruction in aerial operations, including surveillance, rapid response, and emergency intervention.

According to the Interior Ministry, the graduation of this first group reflects ongoing efforts to modernise Libya’s security apparatus and enhance coordination between air and ground units. The establishment of a specialised police aviation division is expected to improve response times in critical incidents such as search-and-rescue operations, disaster response, and border surveillance.

Minister Abu Zariba praised the graduates for their dedication and professionalism, emphasising the importance of aviation support in ensuring national security and public safety. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in advanced training programmes that equip security personnel with modern skills and technologies.

The initiative aligns with broader efforts by the Libyan authorities to rebuild and reform the country’s security institutions, particularly in the east, where Benghazi has become a hub for technical and tactical training.
