Libya is set to host the Libya–Africa International Gas Forum 2025 in Tripoli on December 6 and 7, marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s role in Africa’s evolving energy landscape. The event will bring together senior government officials, industry leaders, and international experts to discuss the continent’s gas potential and pathways for sustainable energy development.

The forum, organized by the Ministry of Oil and Gas under Libya’s Government of National Unity, is being held in partnership with S&P Global Commodity Insights, IN-VR, and The Energy Circle. It will focus on investment opportunities, technological innovation, and regional collaboration to ensure energy security and sustainable growth across Africa.

Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdelsadiq, will deliver the keynote address. A leading figure in Libya’s energy sector, Abdelsadiq has decades of experience in exploration, production, transport, and refining.

He has overseen several key national projects, including the Southern Libya Refinery, the development of new oil fields, and the creation of joint ventures between Libyan and international companies.

As acting minister and a member of the National Oil Corporation’s Board of Directors, Abdelsadiq plays a central role in shaping Libya’s energy policy, focusing on exploration, reserve management, and long-term strategic planning. His participation highlights Libya’s ambition to position itself as a regional hub for energy cooperation and innovation.

The Libya–Africa Gas Forum 2025 is expected to serve as a key platform for policy dialogue, business networking, and knowledge exchange on energy diversification and the transition to cleaner fuels. It also underscores Libya’s broader strategy to attract investment, modernize its energy infrastructure, and strengthen its position in the global energy market.
