Under the directives of Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad, who emphasized the importance of supporting foreign communities residing in Libya, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Abdel-Hadi Al-Hwaij oversaw the inauguration of the Sudanese Brotherhood School in Al-Marj on Thursday.

The event reflects the Libyan government’s continued commitment, alongside the Libyan National Army, to assist Sudanese families displaced by the ongoing conflict in their home country. The initiative aims to provide children with access to education despite the difficult humanitarian conditions caused by war.

Dr. Al-Hwaij said during his speech that “wars bring devastation and tragedy, but enlightened minds build the future of peace,” stressing that education remains a fundamental pillar in rebuilding societies. He urged members of the Sudanese community to resume their studies and integrate into the Libyan education system.

According to the minister, the Al-Marj facility marks the sixth school established for the Sudanese community in Libya, following similar institutions in Benghazi, Ajdabiya, Jalu, and Kufra. This expansion, he added, underscores the government’s dedication to creating a stable and supportive learning environment for Sudanese students.

Dr. Al-Hwaij also reaffirmed Libya’s foreign policy of “zero problems” with other nations and its consistent stance in support of Sudan’s unity and sovereignty. He called on all Sudanese factions to embrace dialogue, end bloodshed, and work towards lasting peace and national reconciliation.

The minister further highlighted that Libya’s humanitarian and logistical initiatives toward Sudanese refugees have, in many cases, outpaced international efforts, reflecting the deep historical and fraternal ties between the two peoples.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Al-Hwaij reiterated the government’s rejection of any attempt to resettle migrants of various nationalities within Libya’s borders. However, he welcomed Sudanese nationals to regularize their status under national laws governing residence, employment, education, and commerce.
