The second edition of the Fasania Rally officially began in southern Libya, marking the launch of the first competitive stages of one of the country’s most prominent desert motorsport events.

The rally kicked off in the Takarakiba area with wide participation from Libyan and international racers, reinforcing its growing reputation as a regional platform that combines competitive racing with the promotion of desert tourism.

The opening ceremony drew strong official and public attendance, creating an atmosphere that reflected increasing confidence in hosting international sporting events in southern Libya.

Organizers highlighted that the Fasania Rally goes beyond motorsport competition, aiming to spotlight the natural beauty, cultural richness, and tourism potential of Libya’s southern regions. The vast desert landscapes, challenging terrain, and unique scenery provide an ideal setting for rally racing while offering global exposure for local destinations.

International competitors praised the organization and hospitality surrounding the event. Algerian racer Derbal Saifeddine, a member of the Rally Ghaut team, said his participation in the second edition builds on his experience in the inaugural rally. He noted that his team traveled from Algeria specifically to take part in the event and described the overall arrangements as smooth and well-coordinated.

Saifeddine emphasized that his team faced no difficulties since arriving in Libya, adding that the welcome and logistical support reflected a high level of professionalism. He said participants felt safe and well-received throughout the early stages of the rally, contributing to a positive competitive environment.

According to the organizers, the first official stage of the Fasania Rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday, with additional stages and activities continuing over the coming days until the rally concludes. The competition is expected to test drivers’ endurance, navigation skills, and technical ability across demanding desert routes, while maintaining strict safety measures.

The Fasania Rally is increasingly seen as an opportunity to stimulate economic activity in southern Libya by attracting visitors, supporting local services, and encouraging future tourism investment.
