Libya’s Oil and Gas Minister Khalifa Abdulsadek met Egypt’s Ambassador to Libya, Tamer Elhefny, in Tripoli to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in energy and investment. The meeting focused on expanding economic ties and supporting joint projects that serve the interests of both peoples and reinforce strategic partnership prospects.

Officials said talks covered opportunities across the energy value chain. These include oil, gas, downstream services and related investments. Both sides highlighted the importance of coordination between institutions and the private sector to unlock projects and improve efficiency. The discussions also underlined the need to create an enabling climate for investors and to encourage technology transfer and skills development.

Libya is seeking to stabilise output and attract capital to modernise infrastructure after years of disruption. Egypt, with its experience in energy services and regional connectivity, is viewed as a key partner. Cooperation could help boost production, improve maintenance and enhance export capacity, while supporting job creation and knowledge exchange.

The meeting stressed the value of regular dialogue and practical steps to advance cooperation. Officials noted that stronger ties in energy can support wider economic integration, including trade and investment flows. Energy remains a pillar for growth and a driver for stability across the region.

For Libya, deeper engagement with neighbouring countries aligns with efforts to diversify partnerships and strengthen regional cooperation. The ministry said continued engagement with Egypt would help align priorities, promote shared interests and contribute to sustainable development goals. The talks reflected a shared commitment to constructive relations and pragmatic cooperation, with energy positioned as a catalyst for broader economic progress between Libya and Egypt.
