The Anti-Security Threats Agency has mourned the death of Second Lieutenant Sakhr Ali Al-Arabi Al-Aswad, a member of its Special Tasks Office, and Mohammed Mustafa Mohammed Quraimida, who were killed in a shooting attack in the city of Al Zawiya, west of Tripoli.

In an official statement, the agency said the two men were subjected to a sudden and deliberate armed assault while driving their vehicle along the Refinery Road area.

Unknown assailants reportedly opened heavy fire on the vehicle in a public roadway, resulting in their immediate deaths.

The agency described the incident as a “cowardly criminal act,” stressing that it occurred during a time that holds deep religious and social significance, when public safety and respect for life are especially emphasized.

It expressed profound sorrow over the loss of one of its officers and extended condolences to the families of both victims.

Officials underscored that the attack represents a serious escalation by criminal groups operating in parts of western Libya, warning that such acts threaten public order and the safety of citizens.

The agency strongly condemned the shooting and vowed that it would not allow those responsible to evade accountability.

It reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying security and intelligence operations to identify, track, and arrest the perpetrators.

The statement emphasized that all available resources would be mobilized to dismantle the networks involved and bring those responsible before the judiciary in accordance with Libyan law.
