Libya’s Ministry of Economy and Trade has overseen the launch of a unified digital platform for chambers of commerce, marking a significant step in the country’s broader economic digital transformation strategy.

The initiative was unveiled at the headquarters of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, under the patronage of Economy and Trade Minister Mohamed Al-Hwaij. The event was also attended by Dr Mahmoud Al-Futaisi, head of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, Union President Mohamed Al-Raid, and senior officials from the Ministry of Economy, the Customs Authority and the Commercial Registry Authority.

The unified digital system aims to modernise and streamline services provided by Libya’s chambers of commerce, facilitating business transactions and improving institutional efficiency. Officials described the platform as a qualitative leap in unifying digital services across chambers nationwide, enhancing transparency and accelerating administrative procedures for business owners and investors.

During the launch event, organisers presented a detailed technical overview explaining the platform’s operational mechanisms and the range of services it will offer. These include electronic processing of commercial documentation, digital verification services and improved connectivity between economic institutions.

The programme also witnessed the handover of supervisory and technical access portals for the system to the Ministry of Economy and Trade and the Customs Authority, reinforcing digital integration between relevant state bodies. Representatives from Libya Trade Network, the Customs Authority, the Commercial Registry and private sector partners attended the ceremony.

Officials said the platform reflects a strategic direction to strengthen Libya’s business environment, support private sector growth and align institutional performance with modern digital governance standards.

The launch concludes months of preparation and coordination, signalling a renewed commitment to enhancing service delivery, promoting transparency and advancing economic development through digital innovation in Libya.
