Libyan authorities have deported 233 irregular migrants following the conclusion of a security campaign carried out by the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency in the eastern Tobruk region, as part of intensified efforts to curb illegal migration and reinforce stability.
The Tobruk branch of the agency announced that the deportations were conducted in line with official directives aimed at combating irregular migration and strengthening security measures across the region.
Coordinated Deportation Operations
According to officials, the operation involved transferring a number of migrants to the Qanfouda shelter and deportation center, while others were repatriated through the Musaid border crossing. The process was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and regulatory frameworks governing deportation operations.
The campaign was implemented under direct supervision from senior leadership within the agency, reflecting a coordinated and structured approach among its branches and units. Authorities emphasized that all actions were conducted with full adherence to operational guidelines.
Ongoing Crackdown on Illegal Migration
Libyan officials stressed that the campaign forms part of broader, ongoing efforts to address the issue of irregular migration, which remains a major challenge for the country. Security bodies continue to carry out organized operations aimed at limiting migrant flows and maintaining public safety.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to continuing deportation operations and enforcing the law with firmness, underscoring the importance of protecting national security and community stability.
Libya remains a key transit point for migrants attempting to reach Europe, prompting authorities to step up enforcement measures and coordination across multiple regions.
