The Secretary-General of the General Command, Khairi Al-Tamimi, received a high-level delegation from the European Union at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi, in a meeting aimed at strengthening communication and advancing cooperation on key regional issues.

The talks focused on shared concerns, particularly irregular migration and security in the Mediterranean region. Both sides explored ways to enhance coordination and develop more effective strategies to manage migration flows, which remain a major challenge for both Libya and European countries.

Discussions highlighted the importance of joint efforts in addressing migration networks and improving border security, while also considering the broader impact of instability across the Mediterranean. Officials stressed that closer coordination is essential to achieve sustainable solutions and reduce risks associated with uncontrolled migration routes.

During the meeting, the European Union delegation expressed appreciation for the role of the General Command in supporting stability and maintaining security in Libya. They emphasized that these efforts contribute not only to domestic security but also to wider regional stability, particularly in relation to migration management and cross-border challenges.

Libya remains a key transit point for migrants attempting to reach Europe, making cooperation in this area a strategic priority.
