Libyan Embassy in Damascus Denies New Entry Restrictions

The Libyan Embassy in Damascus has firmly denied reports claiming that new restrictions have been imposed on Libyan citizens entering Syria, emphasizing that travel procedures remain unchanged.

In an official statement, the embassy said it had closely monitored circulating claims suggesting that Libyans are now required to obtain prior security approval or provide a local sponsor before being allowed entry. In response, the embassy engaged with relevant Syrian authorities to verify the accuracy of these reports.

According to the embassy, no such measures have been introduced. Libyan citizens can continue to travel to Syria without the need for advance security clearance or sponsorship. Officials confirmed that the existing system remains in place, allowing Libyan travelers to obtain entry visas upon arrival at border crossings, in accordance with previously established procedures.

The embassy stressed that the spread of inaccurate information has created unnecessary confusion among citizens, urging travelers to rely on official sources for updates on entry requirements. It reassured Libyans planning to visit Syria that there have been no changes affecting their ability to enter the country.

This clarification comes amid heightened sensitivity surrounding travel regulations in the region, where unverified information can quickly spread and influence public perception. Diplomatic missions have increasingly taken on the role of countering misinformation and providing clear guidance to their citizens abroad.
