Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, held high-level talks with an Italian parliamentary delegation in Al-Qubba, focusing on the latest political and economic developments in Libya and prospects for stronger bilateral cooperation.
The Italian delegation was led by Lorenzo Guerini, head of the Italian Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic, and included Italy’s ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini.
Discussions addressed the evolving political situation in Libya, with both sides exchanging views on pathways toward stability and institutional development. Economic cooperation was also a central topic, as participants explored opportunities to enhance investment in key sectors, aiming to support Libya’s economic recovery and long-term growth.
Migration remained a major focus of the talks. Both sides emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to address irregular migration, combining border security measures with broader development strategies. Libyan officials stressed the need to strengthen state institutions and improve their capacity to manage borders effectively.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of addressing the root causes of migration, including economic challenges and limited opportunities. Participants agreed that sustainable stability in Libya requires a balanced approach that integrates security, economic development, and governance reforms.
